Spanish Ports, Preferred Destination for European Cruises

Spanish ports present in “Seatrade Cruise 2006”

Recognized as the leader of trade shows in the port industry, the “Seatrade Cruise Convention 2006  brought together the principal ports of Spain in the state - run pavilion. According to the report issued by the Spanish Ministry of Development, Spanish ports stood out as the “preferred destination for cruise ships arriving in Europe.”

Authorities representing Spanish ports attended the fair in an effort to promote cruise traffic with stops in the Spanish coast. Seatrade Cruise 2006 was held from March 14 through 16 in the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Second Edition of the “Mediterranean Experience” In Miami

The Chamber offered consulting services to professionals

This April, for the second consecutive year, the Miami Beach Convention Center brought together a large number of participants with 400 gastronomic booths in the "Mediterranean Experience 2006" food fair.

Samplings of Spanish cuisine presented at the fair included dishes representing the autonomous communities of Madrid, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Miami were instep with the yearly tradition in offering professional consulting services to culinary attendees in “Mediterranean Experience 2006” fair. The event took place from April 3-5 and was hosted by the President of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre.

Reduced Rates for Chamber Members at the Mandarin Hotel

Since March, members of the Chamber will enjoy at a reduced rate some of the many amenities offered by one of the most sophisticated hotels along the bay, the Mandarin Hotel on Brickell Key, Miami. Among the services that have given the hotel its fame and reputation are the Mandarin´s Spa known for its hedionistic settings, and the ever popular Azul restaurant, recognized for its flavorful Asian cuisine.

Chamber Moves to New Offices

Due to the significant growth over the past years, the Chamber relocated to new offices in March. Located at 1221 Brickell Avenue, all members can visit the new site in office number 40 on the 15th floor of the building known by the prestigious firm of lawyers Greenberg Traurig. You can't miss it.

New Cycle of Seminars at Chamber Offices

As of May, The Chamber will host monthly business seminars designed to fulfill its commitment of providing additional information to its members. The free seminars are directed to assisting members in investing and are held in the offices of the Spanish Chamber in Miami.

The first seminar held in the month of May reviewed the U.S. Tax Law.  The seminar in June reviewed Marketing and Communications strategies designed to capture the Hispanic market in the U.S.

The Valencia Region Before and After Calatrava

Conference by Francisco Camps and Calatrava at the University of Miami

“The Valencia region before and after Santiago Calatrava” was the title of the conference wich captured the attention of students as well as others interested in the subject.  The conference, held last April in the Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center of the University of Miami, was co-presented by the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Francisco Camps, and world recognized architect, Mr. Calatrava.  Both guests spoke on the importance of architecture as an element of regional transformation.

Hundreds of people gathered at the University for hours to hear some of the unique experiences that best represent the work of Calatrava.

Presentation of The America's Cup Sailing Competition in Miami

Valencia will be the site of the next competition of the America's Cup Sailing of 2007.  The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Francisco Camps, announced the popular event in an event held in April at the Coral Reef Yacht Club of Coconut Grove.

According to the President of Valencia, “Valencia presented all the best conditions to hold this event."  America´s Cup, considered the oldest sports event since 1870, will take place from June 23 through July 4, 2007.

Esperanza Aguirre, Francisco Camps and Manuel Mencía, Guests of Honor at Chamber Luncheons

The now customary luncheons held by the Chamber as a meeting point for members, during the month of April honored guests,  in order of appearance, Manuel Mencía, vice president of "Enterprise Florida" (February), Esperanza Aguirre, President of the Community of Madrid, and Francisco Camps, President of the Generalitat Valenciana (April).

Manuel Mencía spoke of his goal to "diversify Florida's economy and create added value jobs by attracting, supporting and helping new companies establish themselves in the State of Florida."

The Presidents of both Valencia and the Autonomous Community of Madrid were warmly welcomed at the Hotel Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove, where a large number of important personalities from Spain and the United States participated.
