In his dozen years at the World Bank, he has worked on regional trade agreements in North Africa, enterprise restructuring and privatization in transition economies, corporate governance in East Asia, and regulatory reforms around the world. He was a principal author of the World Development Report 2002. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and has published over 70 articles in academic journals, including in Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Comparative Economics. About Dr. Villamil:Dr. Villamil is a member of the President's Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiations in Washington, D.C. He recently served as Chairman of the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors of Florida. He has served as a U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs and is currently Chief Executive Officer of The Washington Economics Group, an economics and business consulting practice now in its second decade of operations
